Pastor Alfred King was saved in 1998 at the age of 15 because of the Deaf Ministry of New Testament Baptist Church. He was baptized here the same year and was called to preach in 1999. Alfred’s wife Shirley (formerly Shirley Schones) was saved at the age of 4 and later baptized in New Testament in 1990. They were married in June 2004 and Shirley graduated with a BA in Elementary Education in 2005.
Pastor King graduated from Heartland Baptist Bible College in May of 2006, with a BA in Pastoral Studies and served as a Missions Intern at Fellowship Baptist Church of Liberal, Kansas under Pastor Bill Prater where he finished the program in April 2009. He returned to Arizona with his wife Shirley and three children (they now have five children) and began working on starting a church in Oro Valley. In April 2010, North Valley Baptist Church was founded and has flourished under Alfred’s pastoral ministry. Pastor Daniel Ligon is now the pastor there.
Pastor King is also serving as secretary of the Arizona Independent Baptist Fellowship since 2014. He is currently an officer on the Board of Directors at Heartland Baptist Bible College as well.
He was formally installed as our pastor on July 5, 2020.
